BMW's dashing alternative to the classical sedan bodyshape arrives with a fresh dose of individuality, aesthetic appeal and emotional engagement, along with the dynamic capability for which BMW is renowned.

The new car has all the ingredients to fuel the enthusiasm of new, design-led customers for BMW's hallmark driving pleasure.
The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe seamlessly transfers the elegant aesthetic championed by its larger stablemates into the premium compact class.
The standout characteristic of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is its dynamically stretched silhouette which, like the four frameless side doors, is lifted from the classical coupe blueprint. A distinct side taper at the C-pillar injects a further feeling of sportiness into the shoulder section above the powerfully contoured rear wheel arches.

They hand over to a High Gloss Black band, which runs up to and encircles the centrally located BMW badge. This combination of the rear lights and connecting element accentuates the width of the rear and gives the car a more planted look.
The new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe will be available from launch with a choice of three engines (one diesel and two petrol) from the BMW EfficientDynamics family. A raft of measures has given them better fuel economy, lower emissions and, in some cases, more power than before. The entry-level engine is the three-cylinder unit in the BMW 218i with 136bhp, while the 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel powering the BMW 220d generates 185bhp.

All BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe models will also sport a multi-link rear axle which will offer fine dynamics combined with a comfortable ride.
Customers looking for an even sportier drive can also opt for the M Sport suspension, which will give a 10mm reduction in ride height, or the Adaptive suspension, delivering Variable Damper Control, which will allow the driver to choose between two damper settings.

The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant first seen in the BMW 3 Series is also present in the 2 Series Gran Coupe, while the car's modernity is also underscored by the optional backlit trim strips that offer a choice of six different interior ambient colours.
The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe also belies its elegant coupe form with generous levels of cabin space, welcoming rear passengers with a significantly easier entry and 33mm of extra kneeroom over the BMW 2 Series Coupe. The seating position is 12mm higher too, and the boot is now capable of holding up to 430 litres of gear, 40 litres more than the two-door coupe.
