Charging points have been installed at Volkswagen's Dresden site that can be extended by up to six modular charging points using an adapter system.

Volkswagen's Transparent Factory in Dresden is expanding its electric charging infrastructure. Extra charging points have been installed at Volkswagen's Dresden site as part of a joint venture with start-up ChargeX.

The idea behind it is as clever as it is cost-effective - the only installation required was an electric wall box. By using an intelligent power strip, up to 32 separate charging points can be created.

A total of seven electric vehicles can be connected simultaneously at Dresden. Integrated, intelligent load management ensures that the connected vehicles do not charge in parallel and also maintains the power input. ChargeX developed the idea of a power strip for charging stations as part of the Future Mobility Incubator, the foundation scheme for start-ups in the Transparent Factory.
